Thanks both to its prime coastal location and to the region's fertile land, Valencia's local gastronomy boasts abundant seafood, fruits, grains, vegetables... and all of it fresh!

The real star of Valencian cuisine, however, is without a doubt the scrumptious rice dish known as "paella". Needless to say, Valencianos are quick to point out their gastronomic claim to fame. Whether with shellfish or chicken, this Valencian dish became popular nationwide before making its way into homes and restaurants around the world.
