• San Vicente Ferrer
  When? April 12
  Where? Throughout the city
  What? Honoring San Vicente Ferrer, the patron saint of the Valencian Community, is a celebration dating back to the mid-16th century. Altars - including one of the oldest altars in the world - are set up throughout the city where children re-enact the saint's miracles. Meanwhile, families make their way to his birthplace, since turned into a chapel, where children drink from the Pouet de Sant Vicent (Saint Vicente's well), which legend has it helps them speak at an early age, curb swearing and avoid tonselitis. Processions wind through the street, floral offerings are made and what would a Valencian celebration be without some firecrackers?
